Project development phase: we are in design phase for the most cost effective and easy to install safe room/storm shelter. we have partnered with a generations-old American business to develop a user friendly version of a time-tested military grade shelter called the Quonset Hut.
mission: we have personal experience in the manufacture and erection of Quonset Huts, and we have used that experience to scale the building to a size that most any homeowner can assemble without the use of dangerous ladders or tools, giving every home-owner the opportunity to have a safe-room just feet from their home. the modular nature of the hut, together with the easy novel anchoring method we have developed, combine to provide a very easy to impliment manageable safe place for our people in almost any geographical location. gone are the days of 20,000 lb cement cubes being proposed as offering “resiliency”. now is the time to build real resilient infrastructure for people, especially as our nations insurance companies abandon whole vulnerable regions.
safety/resiliency: our shelters will be tested to meet as many guidelines for safety as possible. the wind resistance of our shelter is proven easily as its a carry-over of it’s parent design, the roof load capacity is tremendous as the smaller the Quonset hut gets, the stronger it’s design. the construction materials are immune to water/flood damage, and we believe with a very slight addition of fire-block foam around the perimeter of the end wall opening that our shelters will save lives and property in case of fire, which we will be testing soon as part of the donation of several prototypes to local fire departments for safety training purposes.
cost efficacy: our shelters have the benefit of ready availability of all parts and pieces, with several American companies capable of delivering the main components in a matter of weeks, to the end customer. each shelter requires a simple permitting process with the involvement of local mobile home installation companies, to install 4 simple helical “soil-screws”, a product the installers are already well familiar with, and again, with USA anchors in ready supply across the country. the implementation of the project is easily scaled by adjusting the shipping, warehousing, and distribution to achievable levels, given the steel building manufacturers of this country are already well equipped to handle large volumes still deliver with timeliness.
funding: safe room funding has been made available to most every jurisdiction in the country, for many disaster types, and we intend to propose our project via any community that sees the benefit in providing safety for their citizens. we hope to angle the project toward winning the FEMA BRIC contest, so that we may have a real opportunity to protect many thousands of people, and their precious belongings, in times of insecurity.
